Originally from Cali, Colombia, Diana discovered tango in 2008 and soon moved to Buenos Aires, where she trained intensively for over a decade—beginning with the renowned Sistema Dinzel®. Her teaching blends strong technique with improvisation, musicality, and personal expression, shaped by years of study and performance across South America and the U.S. Diana creates a welcoming space where students can explore the connection, creativity, and joy of tango. Now in Chattanooga, she invites dancers of all levels to discover their own voice through this beautiful and dynamic dance.
A Note From Emilie:
I firmly believe in the power of movement and that, when linked in space, two objects have a finite number of ways they can move relative to each other. If this is true, then all partner dances, no matter what style they fall under, are subject to the same laws of physics.
While I have a deep grounding in ballroom dance, I respect and admire deeply the history and movement quality of tango (it’s also one of my personal favorite dance styles) and I have long desired to bring high quality tango classes to our Chattanooga dance community and then I met Diana! Diana’s philosophy of movement and teaching style blend beautifully with our mission here at Emilie Cole Studios and we are SO happy to have her partner with us! You will LOVE learning from her - she makes dance easy and fun while prioritizing excellent movement (which is essential to ensuring both you and your partner have the dance experience you’ve always dreamt of)!
I’ve had both ballroom and tango dancers tell me it’s not possible to have both dance styles under the same roof, but here we are proving it is possible to learn ALL styles of partner dance and excel at them. When we break down the physics of movement, there really isn’t any difference between any of the dances - only in our expression of movement and music and our willingness to open ourselves to the possibility of expanding beyond our perceived limitations. So come and try something new today - if tango (or any style of partner dance) has called your name and you’ve been ignoring it, take this as your sign to listen to that voice. It’s worth it - I promise.
